Why do I serve on the Dean’s Advisory Council?

I serve to enhance my knowledge of UTC and help UTC and the College of Arts and Sciences anywhere I can. Because I am a firm believer in the “pay it forward” concept, serving on the council is rewarding and allows me to contribute meaningfully to the success of UTC.

Why do I serve on the Dean’s Advisory Council?

UTC helped shape who I am, and serving on the Dean’s Advisory Council is one tangible way I can give back and help strengthen what UTC is becoming. UTC is where I built my foundation as an educator. I serve because I care about UTC, its students, its faculty, and its future. I'm proud of what UTC has given me and honored to support the College of Arts and Sciences in ways that are strategic, student-centered, and forward-looking.

Why do I serve on the Dean’s Advisory Council?

My professors in the College of Arts and Sciences helped me find my way by taking the time to get to know me, asking about my goals, challenging me in the classroom, and opening doors to internships that helped me discover what I was good at and what I wanted. Those professors laid a foundation that allowed me to build my career. Serving on the Dean’s Advisory Council gives me the opportunity to give back to the college that gave me so much.

Why do I serve on the Dean's Advisory Council?

I believe in the power of education and especially how art can be transformative in people's lives. The College of Arts and Sciences embodies my vision of how arts and sciences can influence the lives of UTC students in innumerous and positive ways. It prepares students to become engaged citizens, who will use their education to impact others. It is therefore a privilege for me to serve on the Dean’s Advisory Board!

Why do I serve on the Dean's Advisory Council?

During my time at UTC, I received a quality education while walking with the intellectual giants of chemistry and engineering. It was an awakening. I am committed to helping UTC attract the best students in the area and ensuring that today's students have the opportunity to become valuable citizens.

Why do I serve on the Dean's Advisory Council?

I hope to support the College of Arts and Sciences as it transforms such bright young minds and then catapults those stars forward to thrive and serve, whether here in our community or beyond. The chance to serve UTC, a place I still consider "my campus," was a gift I could not ignore.

Why do I serve on the Dean's Advisory Council?

I have a long history of service to UTC, but the College of Arts and Sciences serves the most students. And, as I have often said, you can't graduate UTC without take some courses in CAS. It is the base in college education that everything else builds on.

Why do I serve on the Dean's Advisory Council?

I serve on the Dean's Advisory Council because I believe that the traditional liberal arts core curriculum should be the foundation of all higher education, and the College of Arts and Sciences most closely adheres to that tradition and is in the best position to preserve and expand it. While the knowledge and skills acquired in college should indeed make students better employees, we must remember that the true point of higher education is to make students better human beings.
