Director's Message
We’re past fall break, y’all! We are getting ready to admit our 8th cohort of ABSN students and have a record 70 students in the RN-BSN Gateway program. Our first cohort of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner students are managing courses and all are doing well. We continue to report 100% pass rates for the BSN, Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Anesthesia graduates for 2025.
The MobileMOC outreach continues rolling from county to county providing exceptional resources and primary care. One would think that the ones who benefit most are those who are seeing an interprofessional team to help them navigate the maze of health care challenges but I would argue that. Our students and faculty are seeing firsthand what has become an integral part of the health and well being of our aging adults in the 10 surrounding counties. Just look at the MobileMOC page and you can see for yourself the impact of this unique outreach. Data from quarter 2 is under review and is already underscoring the importance of its efforts.
The fencing around the Dorothy and Jim Kennedy Health Sciences Building is going up and construction will commence by the end of the month. We are more than ready for the new building’s enhanced skills labs, safe hospital, simulated OR and all the technology that goes along with it. It makes us want to go back to school! Maybe not all of us, but some for sure. We can’t wait for move in day, and with that increased enrollment.
Please feel free to reach out to us. We would love to show you what is new in the School of Nursing. I promise, more excitement will follow soon.
