Exhibition Statement
Kudzu Paper
Is it greed or martyrdom to unsalvage the other, to tame a beast in its own environment? I only eat other living things: a surprising encounter, my reflection, something beyond repair, and even dust. The weeds that consumed the place I grew up consume me now.
Apple trees are to Asian lady beetles as temptation is to mimicry.
Desire is to innocence as forgiveness is to salvation.
Abundance soaks the ether, the potential drips off the power lines in my own backyard. Roots on roots on roots on roots (it’s a gnarled, unruly mess).
