- Who should enroll in this course?
Since there are no prerequisites, this course is perfect for any individual wanting to enter the healthcare field. If you're a student looking for an opportunity to gain patient care hours for certification, PA, or Medical school applications, this is a great opportunity for you as well.
- Do I need any medical experience or prerequisites?
No, our CCMA program doesn't require any experience or additional classes, but certification exams do require students to be at least 18 years old with a GED or high school diploma. **To enroll in the externship, students must be willing to submit a background check, drug screening, and immunization records.
- What Certification does the program prepare me for?
Students in our CCMA course are prepared to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) nationally-recognized certification exam. **Certification exam is included in the cost of the course. Learn more about certification exam.
- Do I have to renew my Certification?
The NHA does require CCMAs to renew their certification every two years to stay knowledgeable about new best practices and strategies. Learn more about NHA's renewal requirements.
- What will I learn?
CMA students will learn how to provide patients with the following support:
- Charting patient history
- Obtaining and charting vital signs
- Patient exam positioning
- Phlebotomy safety procedures
- Performing and reading EKGs
- Assisting with minor surgeries

- What is the Clinical Externship?
CCMA students have the opportunity to gain real-world experience with one of our community partners. Externships allow students to interact with patients, be actively involved in patient care plans, and gain a deeper understanding of the hospital and CCMA responsibilities.
To be eligible, you must successfully complete our 140 hr CCMA certification course, submit a background check, drug screening and immunization records.
