How have your studies in the program factored into your career goals? Any influential mentors on campus?
“My studies in the program have been instrumental in shaping my career goals. The program has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of engineering management, including leadership, project management, financial management, technology management, organizational behavior and team relations, supply chain and manufacturing, and data analytics. As for influential mentors, I can name Dr. Gregory, Dr. Kim and Dr. Varol, they have been a guiding force, offering valuable insights and advice throughout my academic journey.”
Why UTC?
“I chose UTC based on several factors. The renowned Engineering Management program, with its strong curriculum, faculty, and unique networking opportunities were a significant draw. The university’s location in Chattanooga was also a significant factor in my decision as I have family members living there.”
Favorite thing to do in Chattanooga?
“My favorite thing to do in Chattanooga is to explore the city’s many outdoor attractions. The city is surrounded by mountains, rivers, and forests, making it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts. I personally find the friendly community is what makes Chattanooga a truly special place especially for international students.”
Have you changed during your time at UTC?
“During my time at UTC, I have undoubtedly undergone personal growth. Engaging in diverse academic and social experiences has broadened my perspectives and enhanced my adaptability. Interacting with fellow students from a multitude of cultural backgrounds and diverse professional experiences contributed to my personal, intellectual, and professional development.”
Did you take any online courses?
“As part of my degree program, I took online courses which offered me the flexibility to complete coursework at my own pace and on my own schedule. I found these courses to be interactive and engaging, with opportunities for discussion and collaboration with other students.”
What opportunities have you had to gain other skills?
“During my degree program, I had the privilege of being selected to be part of the UTC School of Engineering trip to the leading industries in Germany. From the moment we stepped into the country, we were immersed in a world of advanced manufacturing and engineering excellence. We visited state-of-the-art automotive factories, witnessing the precision and efficiency with which iconic German cars were crafted. Exploring the industrial hubs, we were introduced to groundbreaking advancements in robotics, automation, and sustainable energy.”
Best part of going through the graduate program?
“The best part of my experience going through the graduate program has been the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with other students and faculty members. The program has provided me with a supportive and challenging learning environment that has helped me grow both personally and professionally. I have also appreciated the opportunity to apply my knowledge and skills in real-world settings through research projects and internships.
Advice for any incoming graduate students?
“My advice to incoming graduate students would be to take advantage of all the opportunities available to you. Get involved in student organizations, attend conferences and workshops, and participate in research projects and internships. These experiences will help you develop your skills, build your professional network, and prepare you for a successful career in your field.”
