Welcome to the UTC University Center

The University Center, or UC, is the central hub of the UTC campus, containing offices, dining facilities, the campus bookstore, and meeting spaces for campus departments and student organizations.  With nearly 200,000 square feet of space, the UC is active both day and night with the comings and goings of campus.  We hope you will stop by and visit our facility the next time you are on campus.

The times listed on this schedule do not include any reserved times at the beginning or end of each meeting.

UC Gallery Construction Project

From Tuesday, February 28 - Thursday, March 17 there will be a small construction project to removed some of the mirrors in the Gallery of the University Center.  During this time the stairs and elevator between the first and second floors at the Lansing Court entrance will be inaccessible.  Everyone must use either the stairs leading from the UC Commons to the Game Room, or use the elevator located in the Game Room near the Mocs Card Office.  Here is a map showing the accessible route through the first floor of the UC.  We thank everyone for their patience during this process.

 Tennessee Room Renovation Update

During the first half of the spring semester the UC will be doing a complete renovation in the Tennessee Room to take it from the bland, basic empty space that is currently is to a beautiful banquet room that will be a showpiece for the campus.  Everything from the floor to the ceiling will be fresh and new, including updated, energy efficient lighting and greatly improved A/V capabilities.  We will also be adding some new event equipment to our to offerings in the space, such as new tables and padded banquet chairs.  We anticipate the project to be complete by March 22nd.  Here are two architectual renderings to give you an idea of how the space will look once it is complete.  You can also find some construction photos on our social media pages.

Picture of Recycling StickerUniversity Center Sustainability Efforts

In a survey conducted by the University Center, 79.2% of the surveyed students indicated that saving the planet through recycling and keeping items out of landfills is important.

The University Center provides easy access to multiple stations where paper, aluminum and plastic may be recycled. This recycling system is made possible through a partnership with Orange Grove Center, which is a local non-profit organization that employs persons with developmental disabilities.

During UC renovations we strive to bring eco-friendly products into the building.  A few examples are:

  • A sustainable porcelain floor (EcoCycle tile) made from recycled materials in the Third Floor Lounge area.

  • Over 40 LED light bulbs installed in the Game Room to replace less efficient incandescent bulbs.

  • New carpet made from sustainable materials installed on the Third Floor hallway.

The UC has added bottle filling stations at the water-fountains next to the Commons restrooms on the Second Floor and next to the  Lower Gallery restrooms on the First Floor. The stations were provided by the Environmental Task Force and funded through the Student Green Fee.
