Part Time Library Specialist: Public Services

The UTC Library seeks energetic, friendly, tech savvy and service-oriented candidates to fill several part time service desk positions throughout the Library. Preferred candidates will be familiar with library services, online research, productivity software, and both PC and Mac platforms. Prior experience troubleshooting printers, copiers, scanners, mobile devices and wireless connectivity is also preferred. These positions are part time, approximately 8 to 20 hours per week, and will include a mix of shifts at one or more of the Library's main service points, depending on availability and individual skill sets. Most hours are nights and weekends, with the exception of a Monday daytime shift.

Evening Research and Information Technology Specialist

This position serves at the library's main research and help desk on nights and weekends with a Sunday – Thursday schedule. Required skills include familiarity with library research tools, productivity software, PC and Mac operating systems, printers, scanners and copiers. Ideal candidates will be extremely service-oriented and have strong problem solving skills. Library, IT, or educational work experience is preferred.

Day and Evening/Weekend Studio Specialist

These positions provide customer service and tech support in the library's new Studio, a high-end media creation space. Required skills include familiarity with PC and Mac operating systems and any combination of the following: A/V production, graphic design, web design, photography, animation, or 3D modeling. Ideal candidates for Studio positions love helping people, merge creativity with a broad tech skill set, and solve problems thoroughly.

There are no faculty positions open at this time.


The majority of the student worker positions at the UTC Library are Federal Work Study (FWS) assignments administered through the Financial Aid Office. The library also hires a limited number of non-FWS students, usually at the beginning of the fall term, although we do sometimes have openings at other times during the year.
