Troy Van Zile joined Chattanooga Athletics in July 2015 as the Assistant Athletics Director for Development.  He comes to UTC with more than eight years of intercollegiate athletics administration experience.

Prior to coming to UTC, Van Zile helped launch a private communication service to help organizations connect people with what matters most to them.  He was responsible for all university fundraising duties and leadership of the company. Before his entrepreneurial endeavor, Van Zile was the Assistant Athletics Director for Development and Marketing at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.  His responsibilities included marketing and development operations, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, annual giving, ticket operations, licensing, and media rights.  He also served in similar roles at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Benedictine University. 

Van Zile started his career as the event and entertainment manager for the Peoria (Ill.) Chiefs minor-league baseball team. He holds master’s (’07) and bachelor’s (’05) degrees in Sport Management from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

A native of Wisconsin, Van Zile married former Kt Thompson in 2015.
