Accounting Scholarships
Gary W. Rollins College of Business accounting scholarship recipients will be selected in the spring semester and the awards are effective the following Fall semester.
Scholarships shall be open to all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, citizenship, disability, age, or veteran status and are subject to the individual scholarship criteria.
The Barbara B. and David H. Young Scholarship
This award is designated for full-time undergraduate and graduate accounting majors.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be accepted or enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
- Must have demonstrated successful academic performance. A cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 is required.
Decosimo Family Scholarship
Scholarships for accounting students at the undergraduate or graduate level who exhibit specific skills, including technical skill in accounting, finance and business; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; proficiency with modern technologies; ability to recognize problems and opportunities; ability to analyze data and possess proficiency in the use of data; potential to be a leader; an understanding of the role of cultural diversity; an appreciation of how ethical considerations enter into business decision.
Ernst and Young Award
This award recognizes the accomplishments of an outstanding accounting student.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be an accounting major at the undergraduate level, with at least 60 credit hours.
- Must hold current status and in good standing.
- Must have demonstrated successful academic performance. A GPA of at least 3.5 is required.
- Must be engaged in outside activities, possess strong leadership skills, demonstrate good interpersonal/communication skills and articulate in setting career and personal goals
Financial need may be considered.
Henderson, Hutcherson & McCullough Award
This award recognizes the accomplishments of an outstanding accounting student.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be an accounting major at the undergraduate level, with at least 60 credit hours.
- Must hold current status and in good standing.
- Must have demonstrated successful academic performance. A GPA of at least 3.0 is required.
- Must be engaged in outside activities, possess strong leadership skills, demonstrate good interpersonal/communication skills and be articulate in setting career and personal goals
Financial need maybe be considered.
Kathleen Long CPA Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides support for accounting majors, particularly those who plan to take the Certified Public Account (CPA) Exam.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be accepted or enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
- Must be an accounting major.
- Must have demonstrated successful academic performance. A GPA of at least 3.0 is required.
Financial need maybe be considered.
Betty Sompayrac Award
This scholarship gives preference to non-traditional students.
Mauldin & Jenkins Scholarship in Accounting
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting.
- Must be in junior standing (60 credit hours completed) by Fall 2019 with at least 9 credit hours in accounting courses.
- Must be in good academic standing.
Excellence in Forensic Accounting Annual Scholarship
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in accounting.
- Must show evidence and tangible experience or interest in forensic accounting.
- Must be in good academic standing.
- Must demonstrate successful academic performance.
- Financial need may be considered.
James B. Frost & Co. CPA Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is open to all accounting majors who are in good academic standing.
Jim Spencer Scholarship Fund
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting.
- Must be in good academic standing.
Dr. Marilyn Willis Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is open to all accounting majors who are in good academic standing.
Ladell McCullough CPA Scholarship
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting.
- Preference for applicant who plans to sit for the CPA Exam.
- Must hold current status in good standing.
- Must demonstrate successful academic performance.
- Financial need may be considered.
The Jim Vaughn Scholarship
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be currently enrolled at or admitted to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting
- Must have junior status with at least 9 hours of accounting
- Must hold current status in good standing
- Must demonstrate successful academic performance
- When possible, applicant's home state should be in the southeastern United States
