Flutist Heather Small made her international performing debut in Jönköping, Sweden and has performed at the National Flute Association Conventions in Kansas City (2008), Charlotte (2011) and Las Vegas (2012). She has a doctorate in Flute Performance from Florida State University, where she won the University Concerto Competition.

A champion of new music, Dr. Small tours regularly with duo partner Hui-Ting Yang on programs which feature 20th and 21st century literature for flute and piano. She also gave world premiere performances of music by Gary Schocker and Jonathan McNair. In March 2014, she will perform the Gordeli Flute Concerto with the Southern Adventist Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Small is currently on faculty of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga and Southern Adventist University.
