Application and Admission Process
Thank you for your interest in the UTC Graduate Athletic Training Program (GATP)!
Applications to the GATP will be open July 1st for the Summer 2017 cohort. Applications should be submitted using ATCAS by going to the following link: https://atcas.liaisoncas.com/applicant-ux/#/login
- Official Transcripts from ALL colleges and universities that you have attended
- Official GRE score (must be within the last five years)
- Three professional references
- Letter of interest
- Prerequisite Syllabi (check our pre-reqs here)
- Current CPR card
- Completed technical standards form
Early Decision Option: Deadline Dec 1st
Following the deadline for early admission, the selection committee, which is comprised of four GATP faculty members and one clinical athletic training staff, will evaluate and rate each applicant. Once applicants’ files have been reviewed, selected applicants will be notified of invitation into the program.
The application deadline to the UTC-GATP will be March 1st, 2017. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit all application materials as soon as possible. Cohort sizes range from 16-18 students.
Applicants will be ranked on the following criteria:
- Overall GPA and Advanced Academic Preparation GPA (high level science and math)
- GRE scores
- Letters of recommendation
- Completion of all prerequisites and other application materials
*The committee reserves the right to interview each applicant via Skype or phone on a case-by-case basis.
After the early decisions have been processed, applicants with higher scores on the above criteria may receive recommendation for admission into the GATP as soon as their application has been reviewed, which will be done on a monthly basis. Once an applicant becomes a candidate for admission, a reply must be received by the GATP within two weeks of candidate notification. In the case when either the candidate does not reply, or declines admission, that position in the cohort becomes vacant, and the next candidate, in order of rank will be notified.
Candidates not accepted into the GATP will receive written notification from the Graduate School.
Eligible applicants are strongly encouraged to attend one of the two campus visits, one in the Fall semester, and one in the Spring. The visit is not required, but a good opportunity for applicants to see the campus and our facilities, and meet faculty, staff, and current students. The visit also gives the opportunity for faculty and current students to make a personal connection with prospective students. Once an application has been received, and meets our criteria, the applicant will be notified of the campus visit dates.
