Dr. Mina Sartipi is a Program Leader for Urban Science & Technology at University of Tennessee Chattanooga (UTC). She is also a UC Foundation Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering Department, where she leads the Smart Communications and Analysis Lab (SCAL). She recieved her B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran in 2001 and her M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2003 and 2006, respectively.
In 2008, she was named UC Foundation Assistant Professor. This award was given to her based on her research activities and students evaluating her teaching. She was awarded the UTC Outstanding Faculty Research and Creative Achievement award in 2016. She has also been awarded the best researcher in the Department of CSE and the college of CECS in 2010, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
Dr. Sartipi’s research interests are in the area of communications and data science, in particular advanced wireless communications and data analysis for smart healthcare and urban futures. She has served as the technical program chair of conferences in the areas of wireless communications and networking. Additionally, Dr. Sartipi has been called on to review several papers on data compression and error control coding for various IEEE, ACM, and EURASIP conferences and journals in the past several years.
Dr. Zhen Hu received the bachelor degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, the master degree from Southeast University, Nanjing, China, and the Ph.D. degree from Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, USA, in 2004, 2007, and 2010, respectively.
He currently works as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Smart Communication and Analysis Lab at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. His research interests cover from radio science to data science.
|Brian Williams, originally from Connecticut, received B.A.s in Mathematics and Computer Science before moving to Tennessee. He is expected to receive his M.S. in Computer Science from UTC in August 2015. When he's not working, he's an avid fan of Baseball and the Boston Red Sox.|
|Brandon Allen is a graduate student at the University of Tennessee. His area of research lies in motion analysis, which he began while undergraduate. In his spare time Brandon enjoys working out, playing video games, and spending time with his wife.|
|Austin Harris is an undergraduate student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, who is expected to begin his Masters in August 2015. He is currently working in the Smart Communications and Analysis Lab at UTC, his research is based around motion analysis. During his free time Austin enjoys spending time with his family.|
|Jin is from South Korea and he lived in South Korea for 12 years. He is an undergraduate student at the University of Tennessee majoring in Computer Science : Scientific Application. He is expected to graduate in December and will be starting his masters program in the Spring. He joined the research lab late spring 2015, and his research topic is predictive data analysis.|
