Degree Programs
The Department of Mathematics is committed to excellence in teaching, attracting and supporting outstanding students, and maintaining high quality instructional programs at the graduate level. Graduate students have the opportunity to work with faculty in the pursuit of graduate research projects that cover a wide range from applied to theoretical mathematics.
In an effort to accommodate working professionals pursuing an advanced degree, the department offers late afternoon, evening and online classes on a regular basis. Internship opportunities give students professional experiences with real-life mathematics and improve marketability in the work force.

Assistantships and Financial Assistance
Full-time graduate students are eligible for financial assistance, primarily in the form of graduate assistantships, which can be extended throughout the summer. Graduate assistantships include a generous stipend plus health insurance and complete tuition remission. Information on other forms of financial aid, such as student loans or work-study programs, is available from the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
Application and Deadlines
The Mathematics, M.S. program accepts graduate applications for the fall, spring and summer terms with a rolling admission.
Applicants to the Mathematics, M.S. program must:
Step 1: Meet UTC Graduate School's admission requirements, including a baccalaureate degree completed before the start of graduate coursework.
Step 2: Have contact information for two professional references ready for the online recommendation form.
Step 3: Submit a graduate application through the UTC application portal.
Step 4: Request and submit Official Transcripts from every college attended.
Step 5: If an applicant is also applying for an assistantship, GRE Verbal and Quantitative scores must also be submitted.
