University Website Governance and Guidelines
The UTC website reflects what the university is and what it stands for. It’s crafted with care, managed by two teams—University Communications and Marketing and Information Technology—working in collaboration to deliver excellence. The public-facing websites and microsites operate on a centralized governance model designed to share responsibilities across the UTC web community.
The responsibilities of the UTC Web Services Team apply specifically to UTC’s public website—www.utc.edu, powered by the Drupal Content Management System, its public-facing microsites, like blog.utc.edu (a WordPress installation), and critical subdomains such as go.utc.edu, webapp.utc.edu, calendar.utc.edu, and explore.utc.edu. Each one has its own role, its own purpose, yet they’re all connected, forming a cohesive web ecosystem. Other digital products such as (but not limited to) mymocsnet.utc.edu, people.utc.edu, liveutk.sharepoint.com, tdx.utc.edu, giving.utc.edu, chatt.utc.edu, and gomocs.com fall outside the responsibility of the UTC Web Services Team. However, should the team members be invited to offer expoert support, they will provide assistance.
UTC’s website aims to reflect the institution’s values, supports its mission, and delivers an exceptional digital experience for its users—one that’s intuitive, consistent, and impactful. Because the UTC website is an interactive, evolving communications medium, governance and guidelines are currently under review and will include the inauguration of an authoritative UTC Web Governance Council that will be guided by and aligned with the following:
- UTC's Web Governance Council Charter
- UTC Strategic Plan
- UTC Brand Guidelines
- UTC Editorial Guidelines
- ADA Compliance Policy
- UTC Website Guidelines
ETA for implementation is fall 2025.
