The Read2Achieve program at UTC introduces students to the academic and intellectual culture of university life. The program provides a positive reading experience for students, faculty, and staff, one that holds at its core the belief that reading is an integral part of the university experience. Likewise, the program fosters a sense of community among students, faculty, and staff.

Because the selected Read2Achieve book is not intended to be specific to any one academic discipline, students, faculty, and staff find the book and its subject matter a touchstone for reference and discussion across the campus.

Ok, are you ready?? Its a CLUB in a BUBBLE. -- CLUBBLE. My team and I will be designing, building, and erecting a massive 300-person inflatable bubble. This "bubble" made of plastic sheeting and duct tape is completely safe. From the outside you will see opaque flashing lights, muffle music, and blurred figures through the plastic, but as you enter you will see 300 of your best friends having a great time dancing, party lights, confetti cannons, and fun events. We think this is an incredible, unique, and memorable way to end summer and kick off the new school year! If it works well we'd be willing to make it a tradition and even more massive! We are a christian organization so there is no need to worry about it not being clean, safe, or even dangerous. Google 'clubble' if you want to have a clear idea of the structure we are building.

The UTC Jazz Band is looking for new musicians! All instruments considered. Looking for sax, trombone, trumpet, drumset, bass, guitar, and piano.

No prior jazz experience is necessary.

Perhaps you always wanted to try jazz but never did. Now's the time to give it a shot.

Perhaps you stopped playing awhile back and want to get back into it. Now's a good time.

Perhaps you've been jamming by yourself or with your friends but want to give a real band a shot. This is a good opportunity for you.

The Jazz Band meets Tu/Th from 3-5 and we perform on and off campus several times each semester. The course is MUS 0036.

You must sign-up for an audition on my office door, Room 104 of the Fine Arts Center (auditions are during the first class meeting). Audition music is on my door as well.

If you have questions, send me an email: erika-schafer@utc.edu.
