V. Gaye Jeffers, Associate Professor of Theatre (M.F.A., University of Alabama), is a director, playwright, and dramaturg. Jeffers’ play Philo, inspired by Sophocles’ Philoctetes, was workshopped at the Sewanee Writers' Conference in 2014, and has been performed at Austin Peay State University and Tennessee State University. UTC Theatre premiered her adaptation of Aristophanes’ Peace in 2010. Gaye's professional theatre credits include the Tony Award-winning Goodman Theatre, Chicago Dramatists, the National Jewish Theatre, Lifeline Theatre and the Tony Award-winning Victory Gardens Theatre. She has collaborated with many theatre artists including August Wilson, Lloyd Richards, Robert Falls, David Petrarca, and Sally Nemeth. She received the 2011 UTC College of Arts and Sciences Creative Scholarship Award.
