I have been employed with The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for over 24 years. After working 11 years with the GEAR UP program here at UTC, I joined the Center for Academic Support and Advisement and Student Success (CASS), now Center for Academic Support and Advisement, in the fall of 2011 where I’ve work as the Academic Exploration Advisor for “undecided” students. My duties have included development and coordination of an undecided living learning community “Discover & Declare” providing dedicated programming and resources to undecided students living in residential housing, academic advising and major exploration for undecided students, class instruction teaching first year experience, academic probation and career exploration classes, as well as planning and implementation of resources/services for students in need of career advising. As of August 1, 2018, I have assumed the role of Assistant Director for the Center for Academic Support and Advisement where I will play a more administrative role in the day to day of the Center while still maintaining a caseload of undecided students.

My core strengths include: 25+ years of customer service expertise, sensitivity and insight into others, active listener, team member and participator, adaptability, professionalism, motivation, excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills working with populations from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability to work under pressure and in high-level environments.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2008 and later received my Masters of Professional Studies: Strategic Leadership from Tennessee Technological University.

I enjoy working with undecided students and helping them “discover and declare” the best major/career option for their future. I LOVE that “AHA moment” I’m able to experience with students as they spend their first year of college exploring self, others and the world around them!

I have four amazing adult children and two beautiful grandbabies (Jonathan and JoJo) and spends her time spoiling them. In addition, I’ve added a Miniature Dorberman Pinscher to my family. Here name is Maximilia aka “Maxi!” I also LOVE football and am a BIG Dallas Cowboy fan!
