Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2016
The Intel ISEF is the largest international science competition for pre-college students in the
world. In May 2016, STEM Education sent Nicole Sims to the Intel ISEF in Phoenix,
Arizona. There she attended several symposiums where she learned ways to implement
technology into a standard science classroom.
The most interesting symposium I went to was called Sustainability in the Science Classroom which linked economics, environment, and society and how they interconnect and even affect education. Implementing sustainability into the science classroom promotes solution-oriented thinking and real world problem solving. Students could take an environmental issue and look at all the factors that contribute to it and come up with real world applications to address it.
