Sociology Student Resources
Advising
For academic advising, students should check their MyMocs page to identify their designated academic advisor. Sociology faculty are each assigned a set of student advisees. The role of the academic advisor is not only to help determine course schedules to ensure students are proceeding toward graduation in a timely manner, but also help students think about the long-term goals and how their courses can help them build toward those goals. This might include strategizing particular class sequences to take, identifying an appropriate minor, thinking about useful term or capstone projects, and even (eventually) writing letters of recommendation.
Career Information
Two excellent resources to begin the job search for graduates with a degree in sociology are the ASA (American Sociological Association) and the UTC Career & Student Employment Center.
