UTC Graduation Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where is the application for graduation located?

A: Students applying for December 2015 graduation, submit the paper application to the Records Office, 125 University Center, by following this link: Graduation Application

Students applying for graduation beginning with May 2016 graduation must apply online.

  • The Application for Graduation is located in MyMocsNet on the Academics Tab

    Applications must be submitted online by the following dates:
    Spring Graduation     October 15th
    Summer Awarding     March 15th
    Fall Graduation           June 15th

    After the deadline date, late applications may be submitted in paper form to the Records Office with a $50 late fee. No late applications will be accepted after the following dates:
    Spring Graduation     April 1st
    Summer Awarding     July 5th
    Fall Graduation          November 1st

 

Graduate “Graduate Application for Candidacy, Certificate Award and Graduation” forms can be located either in the Graduate School Office at 103 Race Hall, or online here Candidacy and Graduation Application

Q: When are graduation ceremonies held?

A: Graduation ceremonies are held at the end of the fall (in December) semester and the spring (in May) semesters.  Specific dates can be located on the online Academic Calendar.

Q: What determines if I’m eligible to participate as an undergraduate “walker”?

Requests for undergraduate students will be considered based upon the following conditions:

  • Student has submitted an “Application for Graduation and Certificate Award” form for the semester the student intends to graduate.
  • Student has 12 or fewer credit hours to complete in order to graduate.
  • Student is registered for the remaining hours needed in order to graduate.
  • Student has met all minimum GPA requirements (major, UTC, and institutional).

Q: What determines if I’m eligible to participate as a graduate “walker”?

Requests for graduate students will be considered based upon the following conditions:

  • Has submitted a “Graduate Application for Candidacy, Certificate Award and Graduation” form.
  • Student is participating in a non-thesis or non-dissertation program.
  • Student has 6 or fewer credit hours to complete in order to graduate.
  • Student is registered for the remaining hours needed in order to graduate.
  • Student must meet the minimum required GPA.

***If you are a graduate student who had previously submitted a “Candidacy” form as well as a “Graduation Application,” then all you would need to do is to submit either another “Graduation Application” form to the Records office, or you can complete the “Graduate Application for Candidacy, Certificate Award and Graduation” form and submit that to the graduate school.
