Psychology Department Advising
Psychology majors are required to meet with an advisor each semester. Meetings with advisors in the Psychology Department are made by appointment. You can use any faculty member you want as an advisor. Just call or email the faculty member to schedule an appointment or call Judy Gallagher in the Psychology Office at 423-425-4262 and she will deliver a message as necessary.
For general course-related advising and assistance with overrides, psychology majors should consult with our department's primary Academic Advisor, Angelique Cook. Her office is in room 374, in the 540 McCallie Avenue building, and her phone number is 423-425-5366. Angelique also prefers requests for overrides to be submitted by email to her directly at Angelique-Cook@utc.edu
Please note that each semester, in advance of priority registration, the Psychology Department offers an open advisement period. For two weeks generally in October and March, sign-up sheets for advisement appointments are made available in the Psychology main office area for students to quickly and easily schedule appointments with an advisor.
Be sure to bring a copy of your MYMOCSDEGREE sheet to your advisement appointment. An important concern will always be that you understand why you are taking particular courses. An advisor can look at your proposed schedule and confirm that it meets the degree requirements listed on your MYMOCSDEGREE sheet.
We look forward to helping you earn your degree at UTC!
