The ACT Residual (ACTR) is a three-hour exam for students that are seeking entrance into the Teacher Education Program or admission to UTC.
The Math Department uses the math score from the ACT or the ACTR in order to determine the correct math course placement for a student. You may take the math portion of the ACTR if you only need the score for math placement. This portion of the test is 60 minutes.
The ACTR test score is only valid for UTC and cannot be transferred to another university. If you are planning to use your ACTR score in order to apply for scholarships, please check with the Admissions Office (423-425-4662) to be sure the residual exam satisfies scholarship requirements.
On test day, a total of three and one-half hours will be required for exam administration unless you are taking it for math placement.

TEST DATES: The ACTR is scheduled by appointment only based on availability in Hooper Hall, Room 205.

Complete the registration form and make your $78 payment here.
Once your registration form and non-refundable payment are received, you will receive an email to schedule a test date.
Please note: If you need to reschedule for any reason, including arriving too late for your scheduled test or arriving without ID, you must pay a $25 rescheduling fee.
REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR RETAKING THE ACTR:
Please Note: If you have taken the ACTR within the last 60 days, you are not eligible to retest.
Please send an email to the UTC Testing Center to request information concerning retesting.
You must have the following items with you on the day of the test:
Sharpened no. 2 pencils
TEST RESULTS: A copy of your test results will be emailed to you approximately within one week after the exam. A copy of your results will also be forwarded to the appropriate department(s).
