Dr. Joanie Jackson is the Mary B. Jackson Professor (2017-19) at the UTC School of Nursing.

Dr. Jackson received her Associate Nursing Degree from Dalton Jr College in Dalton, GA in 1985; a BSN degree from West Georgia College in 1992; an MN-FNP from Emory University in Atlanta, GA in 1994; a Post-Master’s certificate in Forensic Nursing from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN in 2006; and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis in 2008, with a concentration in Forensic Nursing. Dr. Jackson has experience in many practice avenues of Nursing to include: maternal/child health, surgery, public health, mobile health, internal medicine, pediatrics, and hospital safety/quality improvement.

Dr. Jackson’s academic career at UTC started in January 2011 and she began teaching in the undergraduate program the first semester and then transitioned to the DNP Program, becoming concentration coordinator. Currently, Dr. Jackson serves on multiple School of Nursing and university committees, on a HRSA grant, as UTC Graduate Council Chair, and has a clinical practice day as an FNP at CADAS. Dr. Jackson is certified as an FNP by ANCC and is licensed in both Tennessee and Georgia.
