Dr. Cherry Guinn received her Doctorate in Education for Health Professionals with a specialty in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Georgia in 1989. Both her Bachelor of Science (BSN) and her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) were from the Medical College of Georgia. Her MSN is in Maternal Child Nursing with a focus on education. She has worked in pediatrics, pediatric ICU, obstetrics, and adult health. She also has worked extensively in hospital administration. Dr. Guinn has written and served as the principal investigator for several federal grants in the areas of maternal child health and continuing education for rural public health nurses in the southeast region. Most recently, she and a colleague, Dr. Barbara Norwood, developed a five-semester post masters academic nurse educator certificate program. This new program was implemented May 2017. Dr. Guinn serves as the program coordinator.
