Annoor Academy Health Fair

thumbnailthumbnailthumbnailthumbnailthumbnail

Twelve BSN students volunteered to go to Annoor Academy to participate in a health fair. The students provided, height, weights, BMIs (and charted these on the BMI percentage charts published by the CDC), heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressures. They also educated the 61 children, from Pre-K to 6th grade, about how to recognize a stroke, the importance of healthy behaviors (mainly diet and exercise), hand hygiene, and gave insight into the role that nurses have in the community.

Our students organized the flow of the health fair and were amazing in their interactions with the children. The principal and the school social worker were surprised when they asked how far along the students were in the nursing program and the answer was “six weeks!" They represented the School of Nursing very well!
