Departmental Internships

Instructions

The department of Chemistry and Physics is glad that you are interested in an internship for credit. To request approval of a new internship (as opposed to existing opportunities) please write a brief proposal including the following:

In order to qualify for an internship, you need to have completed at least 30 credits of college-level coursework. Chemistry majors need to have completed CHEM 3210/L Quantitative Analysis with lab.

There are three steps for the internship for credit process in our department.

  1. The first is to establish the internship site, using the webform below.
  2. The second is to formalize the internship agreement with the attached letter, which the student, site supervisor and UTC faculty advisor sign.
  3. Then the student will be authorized to register for CHEM/PHYS 3900r with their UTC faculty internship advisor.

Site Supervisor Agreement

Site Supervisor Agreement
Determine the internship site supervisor and job title and provide contact information. The site supervisor will need to agree to:
  • your participation in an online discussion board where we can discuss internship activities (while honoring all confidentiality)
  • complete a mid-semester and end-of-semester performance evaluations using an on-line form.
  • a site visit by the internship coordinator, intern, and site supervisor
