Fall 2019 Freshman Orientation Dates

Register for Orientation

This mandatory two-day program is designed specifically to prepare incoming UTC freshmen for success both in and out of the classroom.

Your spot is not confirmed until you have paid the orientation fee.

Take time to read the information below to learn more about your orientation session. We look forward to seeing you soon!

The following New Mocs Orientation sessions are for students enrolling in the Fall 2019 semester:

June Sessions:

  • June 3 and 4: Monday and Tuesday
  • June 6 and 7: Thursday and Friday
  • June 20 and 21: Thursday and Friday

July Sessions:

  • July 8 and 9: Monday and Tuesday
  • July 15 and 16: Monday and Tuesday
  • July 22 and 23: Monday and Tuesday
  • July 25 and 26: Thursday and Friday

You need to register for only one session. If you have any questions, please call our office at 423-425-5220.


Parents and Family

Orientation is a family experience that offers optional programming for parents, family members and guests on the same day(s) as your student's orientation!

Whether you are a parent, guardian or significant other, we recognize the important role you play in their success.

While you're here, don't forget to sign up for the Parent and Family Association!


Information About Your Session

Cost

The fee for Freshman Orientation is $100 per student and $50 per optional parent/guest.

Once fee payment is received, each student's attendance will be confirmed by email.

Refund requests for orientation must be made by June 1, 2019. There is a $10 processing fee on all refunds. No refunds will be given for students or guests after June 1, 2019.

Orientation fees cover food and refreshments, staffing, facility/equipment rentals, paperwork, packaging, etc.

Lodging

Students are housed on campus during each Orientation session. Students will be housed in West campus, which contain traditional style residence halls two students in a room and a bathroom among four students. Students will need to bring a pillow and sheets or a sleeping bag, as linens will not be provided.

Overnight accommodations in residence halls are not provided for parents/guests during orientation.

Meals

The Student and Parent/Guest fee provides light refreshments (during check-in)* and dinner on day one, as well as breakfast on day two.

Water and snacks will be provided at various times.*

If you need something more substantial than light refreshments during check-in on day one, the Scrappy's Place (UC Cafeteria) will be open and accepts Visa and Mastercard credit or debit cards and cash.

What To Bring

  • Comfortable clothes/shoes
  • Linens and towel for overnight stay (twin sized)
  • Toiletry items (shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste)
  • Spending money for snacks
  • Umbrella
  • As a part of the Orientation Service Project, you have the option to bring a non-perishable food item to exchange for a UTC t-shirt. The food item will be used to "stuff Scrappy's Cupboard".
