Dr. Perry Ward, baritone, will present a faculty voice recital on Sunday afternoon, March 22 at 2pm in Cadek Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. Dr. Ward will present a program of art songs by Caldara, Scarlatti, Falconieri, Legrenzi, Schubert, Duparc, Tchaikovsky, and Quilter, accompanied by Ms. Jenny Parker, piano. These songs represent some of Dr. Ward’s favorite vocal literature from his 40 year performing career.

 

Perry Ward has enjoyed a diverse career as a singer, director, conductor, and educator. He has performed with dozens of opera companies, symphony orchestras, and theaters across the United States, including the Metropolitan Opera, Opera Orchestra of New York at Carnegie Hall, Opera Company of Philadelphia, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Tanglewood Festival, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, the Knoxville Symphony, Knoxville Opera, and the Clarence Brown Theater to name a few. Dr. Ward holds degrees in.voice and opera from the St. Louis Conservatory, the New England Conservatory, and Temple University. He earned his DMA in Choral Conducting from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Ward is Associate Professor of Music at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he teaches voice, diction, vocal pedagogy, and opera.
