Choir Sharing Festival
The Choir Sharing Festival is presented by the Music Division and the Southeast Chapter of Kodaly Educators. It is an opportunity for elementary and middle school choirs to perform, observe other choirs and directors and sing a mass choir piece in a combined chorus with students from around the region. This is not an adjudicated event or competition. Each choir performs two songs, one of which must be from the Approved Music List (see below). Following the choir's performance, the guest clinician works with the singers for a few minutes. The director receives written comments from the clinician and the students receive encouragement and affirmation.
The 2018 Choir Sharing Festival will be held Tuesday, May 8, in the UC Auditorium of the UTC University Center. Our clinician will be Craig Hurley, conductor of the Spivey Hall Young Artists and music educator in Cobb County, Georgia. The festival will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude by 1:00 p.m. The public is invited.
The mass choir piece this year is Haida, arranged by Henry Leck (Colla Voce 21-20516;
JW Pepper 5303532). All choirs participating in Choir Sharing should learn this piece.
