Choir Sharing Festival

The Choir Sharing Festival is presented by the Music Department and the Southeast Chapter of Kodaly Educators.  It is an opportunity for elementary and middle school choirs to perform, observe other choirs and directors and sing a mass choir piece in a combined chorus with students from around the region.   This is not an adjudicated event or competition.  Each choir performs two songs and then a clinician works with the singers for a few minutes.  The director receives written comments from the clinicians and the students receive encouragement and affirmation.

The 2017 Choir Sharing Festival will be held Tuesday, January 31, and Wednesday, February 1, in Roland Hayes Concert Hall of the UTC Fine Arts Center. Our clinician is Alison Allerton, Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education at UTC. The festival will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude by 1:00 p.m. The public is invited.

The mass choir piece chosen for this year's festival is Something Told the Wild Geese by Sherri Porterfield (Heritage Music Press, SSA or Two-part).
