Health and Safety for Musicians

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Music Department, in cooperation with the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), wishes to inform students, faculty, and staff of the health and safety issues, hazards, and procedures essential in music practice, performance, and listening. We are dedicated to the health, safety, and well-being of all musicians who participate in the activities of the Music Department, whether it is performance or academic related. Thehealth and safety of a student or faculty member depends largely on personal decisions made by informed individuals. Every music student, faculty, and staff member should become familiar with the information dealing with Maintenance of Hearing Health and Vocal and Musculoskeletal Health linked below. These links contain basic information on maintenance of hearing health, vocal, musculoskeletal health, and injury prevention.
