Steven joined UTC in May of 2015 as the Web Services Librarian and now works as a Digital Development Librarian. He received his MLIS from the University of Oklahoma and his BA in English from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. He is currently pursuing an MS in Computer Science at UTC.

Librarianship or more specifically web development for libraries is about his fourth career, and he came to computers not through love but of necessity when he saw that they were going to replace what he did with film and cameras back when he worked as a special effects photographer. He enjoys and embraces the promise of information technology and spends most days hammering out code to improve user experiences for UTC patrons.

Robots and AI are his areas of research focus for the last few years. He presented on the topic at NetSpeed 2017 in Canada and ILI 2018 in London. He is also interested in Open Source and UX and has presented and published on those topics.

Steven worked with computers for nearly three decades, web development for about two, and as a librarian for the last decade. He did other stuff before that.
