Erin Ryan

Biography
As Manuscripts Archivist, Erin works to arrange and describe unique materials in our Manuscripts and Chattanooga History Collections repositories and assists donors and patrons with inquiries about these materials. Erin joined UTC in October 2021. She received her MSLS, with a concentration in archives and records management, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduation, she worked as a processing archivist for four years at The University of Alabama Libraries in Tuscaloosa.
Erin's research interests include religion, art, and publishing, particularly self-publishing, and how these intersect with each other and with the world of archives. Before she began her archives career, Erin worked as a writer and editor, largely in the field of religious journalism. She also holds a B.A. in English Literature from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and an M.A. in Theology from Saint John’s School of Theology in Collegeville, Minnesota.
