Faculty and Department Services

Our faculty and departments are very important to the UTC Learn Online.  We are here to support you in your development and delivery of high quality distance programs and courses.  Below is a list of services we are able to offer you.  If you do not see something you need on the list, just let us know and we will be happy to work with you on a solution.



Online/ Distance Learning Strategizing:

Discover best practices in distance learning. Prepare teaching materials for the online environment. Organize and design your course in UTC Learn to maximize learning. 


Course and Services Evaluations

The UTC Learn Online will administer course and support services evaluations each semester to allow for continuous improvement of our online and hybrid courses, as well as the support services.


UTC Learn/ UTC Learn Training:

UTC Learn which is powered by UTC Learn Learn is UTC's Learning Management System that faculty can use to deliver course content, communicate with students, enable student interaction, and provide online assignments and assessments. UTC Learn training prepares faculty to utilize UTC Learn in their courses and organizations.


Lecture Capture with Screencast Training:

Use Camtasia, Captivate Mediasite or Screencast to capture your lectures for online delivery from the comfort of your own office. Prepare step-by-step instructions with video and audio commentary.  


Mediasite—Classroom Capture Systems

The Center administers the Mediasite classroom capture system.  Mediasite is a lecture capture technology developed by Sonic Foundry that records video and audio of the instructor and syncs it with the integrated software used in the class.  The presentation is archived and available to watch at any time streamed from a secure server.  This service allows students to take classes from a distance or allows the instructor to pre-record a lecture that they know they will miss and not have to make up any class time.

Mediasite also allows live-streaming of video and is used for broadcasting lectures and events like Commencement and the George T. Hunter Lecture Series.



The Center can assist you with your video conferencing needs.  We have three rooms that are equipped for site-to-site IP based videoconferencing almost anywhere in the world.  They are ideal for providing distance classroom instruction, performing interviews, and group training in multiple locations. 


Adobe Connect

Another valuable teaching resource that is available through the UTC Learn Online is the Adobe Connect conferencing tool.  This web conferencing software allows for synchronous online meetings and classes.  Give us a call to find out more.


Program Planning and Development

The UTC Learn Online is here to assist you in achieving a successful implementation of your distance program.  Whether it is a new program you are just starting or a program you have been offering for years, we are here to assist you with the process.  Our job is to work with you to help make sure you have the information you need so that your accrediting agencies give your program their stamp of approval.

We will also work with you to create a plan for development and delivery of your program.  This will allow us to begin working with your faculty on the development of the courses to be included in your program.  It will also allow us to being a marketing campaign to assist in the marketing of your program and the recruitment of students.


Marketing and Recruitment Assistance

The UTC Learn Online will assist distance programs with marketing and recruitment efforts.  We will coordinate with you to spread the word about your program.
