What is International Education Week?

International Education Week, a joint initiative of the U.S. departments of State and Education, recognizes the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. Universities throughout the country participate in IEW each year.

Each fall, the Center for Global Education celebrates IEW through special events related to international learning, leadership, and exchange at UTC.  IEW events celebrate cultural diversityglobal awareness, and the value that international scholars and students bring to campus communities

For more information about IEW, visit iew.state.gov.

This year, IEW will occur November 16, 2020 to November 20, 2020.

What Diversity Means to Me

This year, UTC students have two ways to participate in the International Education Week Scavenger Hunt! Collect all 10 QR codes, either in person or online. Fifty lucky participants will win a Center for Global Education sweatshirt.

You may complete this challenge in two ways:

  1. Read clues to find the on-campus codes here.
  2. Read clues to find the online codes here.

The scavenger hunt will take place from Wednesday, November 4th to Wednesday, November 11th.

After Wednesday, November 11th, we will contact you about whether you have won. If you are a winner, you will receive details about picking up your sweatshirt.

NOTES

  • Every time you find a QR Code...
    • On campus: You must scan it using your smartphone camera or QR code reader and complete the resulting form.
    • Online: You must click or scan the QR code and complete the resulting form.
  • To be entered into the drawing, you must find all 10 QR codes, either in person or online
  • Filling out the forms does NOT guarantee you will win

This year, the “What Diversity Means to Me” Wall, an important part of UTC’s International Education Week activities, is going virtual.

To participate in this celebration of diversity and cultural exchange, we are accepting submissions that answer the question, “What does diversity mean to you?” Both written and visual submissions are welcome, provided the submission is your own original work and/or proper credit is given to the creator.

Your submission may be as simple or complex as you like. For example, you may wish to share a single word, inspiring quote, detailed painting, or personal story.

The final wall will be displayed in a visual format on the Center for Global Education blog.

To contribute to the virtual wall, complete this form between Wednesday, November 4th and Wednesday, November 11th.

DISCLAIMER: The Center for Global Education within The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga may display and circulate any content submitted for the IEW "What Diversity Means to Me" virtual wall, with or without attribution.
