Technology training programs are a critical component of an institution’s success and provide community members with the skills needed to leverage workplace tools and keep business processes efficient and effective.
The UTC Technology Training Task Force (TTTF) is asked to create and propose a technology training and consultation program that will improve technology skills for staff and faculty through training in the use of existing and new software, resulting in improved productivity with University applications and increased technology awareness University-wide.
Purpose
TTTF’s purpose is to propose a sustainable technology training and consultation program for UTC staff and faculty.

Reporting
TTTF reports to the Information Technology Advisory Council.
Recommendations
TTTF should submit written recommendations to ITAC for review and discussion. Pending the outcome of submissions and discussions, ITAC will move a proposal forward to the Executive Leadership Team. Recommendation elements should include, but are not limited to:
- Identify and create a list of existing, freely available technology training resources currently available to UTC faculty and staff for support, in all formats.
- Utilize existing data or gather data on campus technology training needs and desires, including Help Desk data and a possible survey of campus training needs.
- Identify and create a list of desired, general software training to be offered to the UTC community, such as Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Identify and create a list of desired, specialized software training to be offered to the UTC community, such as Argos, Banner, IRIS, and EMS.
- Identify and create a list of trainers and training partners across the UTC and UT community.
- Recommend and provide a model schedule for a recurring technology training, both general and specialized.
- Recommend and provide a model for a campus-wide training web site to communicate and distribute training events and documents.
- Recommend possible membership for an ongoing Technology Training Group.
- Recommend an annual technology training budget, including the consideration of personnel and software, such as LinkedIn Learning.
- Recommend if technology training should be required as a part of new or ongoing employment at UTC. If so, please suggest specifics.
- Recommend if access to campus software, such as Banner, should be contingent on completion of basic training classes.
- Recommend a means of measuring the success of a technology training program, could include survey results, implications on the Help Desk, input from Human Resources and other stakeholders, and performance assessment tests.
Deadline
The Technology Training Task Force should submit its written recommendation no later than December 15, 2019.
