Welcome Honors Freshmen!

We look forward to meeting you and working with you as you begin your Honors College journey! To make sure you get off to the right start, please take a few minutes and review the following information.

First, every new freshman should register for an online UTC Freshman Orientation session. In addition, the Honors College will host a special online orientation to provide more information about the College and address questions from new students and parents. As a HAM or Brock Scholar, these are the steps you need to follow:

Register for UTC's Online Freshman Orientation

You can find the registration form on the New Student and Family Programs website.

The Honors College has reserved spaces for our freshmen in the second orientation session on June 15-16.  While you are not required to attend orientation on that particular date, it is strongly encouraged for the most productive advising. The registration system will show these dates as full, but you can secure a space if you register for another orientation session and then email Debbie-Bell@utc.edu to ask that your date be changed.

Register for an Honors College Orientation ZOOM Session

Prior to UTC's Freshman Orientations, the Honors College will host two online information sessions via ZOOM for our freshmen and parents. You can register for one of these sessions here:

You will receive an email invitation to your session a few days in advance so you can join the ZOOM meeting on your scheduled day. You don't need any special software to join the session - just an internet connection and a web browser.

Meet With Your Honors College Advisor

On the day of your online honors orientation session (June 2 or June 4), you will also have an individual 30-minute meeting with your Honors College Advisor via phone between 12:30 and 5 p.m. Eastern time. This will be a time for us to speak with you specifically about your fall schedule and answer any lingering questions you have.  After you register for the Honors College orientation session, you will receive an email with your advisor’s name and instructions for scheduling your appointment.

Complete UTC’s Online Freshman Orientation

On the day of your regular UTC Orientation, if you have declared a major, you will have an appointment with an advisor in your major department. Those appointments are scheduled by the department. During the first two UTC orientation sessions (June 8 and June 15), Honors College advisors will be available by phone 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. should you or your major advisor have a question about honors or a problem with your registration. We will provide phone numbers so you can contact an "on call" Honors College advisor.

If you are registered for an orientation later in the summer, you or your department advisor can email honors-college@utc.edu with any questions. An advisor will respond as soon as possible, but may not be able to respond during your meeting time with your advisor.

Save the Date for Our Honors College Freshman Retreat!

Be sure to reserve Monday-Wednesday, August 10-12, for our Honors Freshman Retreat, where you'll bond with your classmates, get to know Honors College staff and some terrific upperclassmen, and find out more about Honors College programs and opportunities.

Note: Given the evolving COVID-19 situation, we will re-configure this event as needed based on the conditions in August. More information about the retreat will follow later in the summer.
