Have you ever wondered what you could do with a degree in History? You can view a table of the possibilities that open up with a degree in history.

The History Department has a file of material on graduate schools and career opportunities. Please contact Ashley Nielsen in the History Department office and she will be happy to direct you to the file ( or 423-425-4561).

The UTC Placement Office, Room 315, University Center, has an experienced staff that is anxious to help History BA's find positions. They maintain current issues of a number employment journals and lists that indicate jobs nationally, regionally, and locally for graduates with Liberal Arts degrees, including the History BA. The Placement Office also helps students to prepare resumes and to train for successful interviews.

Many graduates of the department continue their education in post-graduate or professional programs in the fields of law, history, divinity, international studies, and library science. There are opportunities for employment on the federal and state levels for graduates. Students have pursued careers in fields as diverse as diplomatic service, military intelligence, journalism, park service, and teaching at all levels.
