Research:

  • My current research focuses on using of implementation science to explore how evidence-based programs are implemented in real world settings, and what potential barriers prevent widespread reach and adoption of these interventions
  • Within implementation science, my main interest is exploring ways to optimally link patients from our health systems to community resources for chronic disease prevention (i.e., physical activity and healthy eating)
  • I also have several previous projects that examined the use of exercise training a formal part of treatment programs for individuals with substance use disorders
  • In addition to these research activities in the U.S., I am actively engaged in several international public health efforts including:
    • Examining the role of community health workers in promoting healthy lifestyles in under-resource communities in South Africa
    • Improving older adult physical function through an integrated partnership between health systems and community physical activity resources in New Taipei City, Taiwan
