80% of participants will demonstrate growth in their commitment to and efficacy in using diversity as an instructional tool Results from a Multicultural Efficacy Scale administered at the open and close of the grant cycle will indicate growth in participants’ commitment to/efficacy in diversity as an instructional tool (Qualitative). Project will increase the number of teachers committed to diversity as an instructional tool
12 participants from underrepresented groups who are TN residents and who are seeking licensure in HCS’s 7 areas of greatest need will be recruited, selected, and enrolled in the program AND 90% of these 12 participants will be hired as high-quality teachers in K-12 classrooms after graduation or enroll in graduate school Ms. Sturnes and Ms. Murray will identify eligible candidates using data from UTC admission applications, HCS applications, and/or FAFSA info. This data includes ethnicity, gender, discipline area, access to financial resources, TN residency, family education history, and other socio-economic factors (Qualitative). The number of students selected and enrolled (Quantitative). The number of applications received from underrepresented students will indicate the degree of success of project recruitment efforts (Quantitative). Placement info and data from local school districts will indicate the quality of EORO teachers and their post-graduation status. Project will increase the number of teachers from underrepresented groups in discipline areas of greatest need and in underrepresented TN areas
80% of participants will pass Praxis II exams on first attempt The number of participants taking the PRAXIS II exams and completing edTPA, and the score reports of the results of these assessments. These records are maintained by the SOE (Quantitative). Project will meet the needs of the LEA
80% of participants will pass edTPA on first attempt Same as above Project will recruit and meet the needs of non-traditional students and students with non-educational focused backgrounds
100% of participants will pass Praxis II exams and edTPA at the close of the grant Same as above Project will prepare students for successful test completion on the first attempt
80% of participants will be retained The number of participants at the beginning of the cycle in comparison to the number at the end will be used to determine the rate of retention for participants (Quantitative). Project provides effective remediation plan for students who make multiple attempts
Project provides plan to support students once accepted, retain students in jeopardy of early exit, and provides mentors.
