About Upward Bound Math/Science
Upward Bound Math Science/PRISM program is part of the federally funded TRIO programs, whose purpose is to prepare low-income and first-generation college bound students for success in higher education. The goal of Upward Bound Math Science is to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science and to encourage them to pursue post-secondary degrees in those subjects.
The UBMS/PRISM program offers year-round academic support, to include tutoring for school work, participation in test preparation courses, and classes offered for students and their families to learn more about the college admissions and financial aid processes. Staff members are always seeking scholarship opportunities for program participants. UBMS offers a wide array of enrichment programs, college tours and informative workshops and seminars, and support is offered to students and their families. Students participate in a summer program until graduation. After graduation, they participate in a bridge program to assist in preparing for life as a college student.
