ECON 1010: Principles of Macroeconomics (with emphasis on France & the European Union) - 3 credit hours taught in English
Fulfills General Education Requirement in Behavioral & Social Sciences. Can be used by UTC Rollins COB majors needing to complete ECON 1010 requirement. COURSE DESCRIPTION: A basic understanding of money and banking, economic fluctuations, fiscal & monetary policy, and international economics; special emphasis on the American and European central banks and monetary and fiscal policies in the U.S. and France during the 2007-2009 Great Recession.
Course Objectives & Outcomes: This course is designed to give you the tools for understanding national income and its determination, money and banking, economic fluctuations, fiscal and monetary policy, economic growth, and international economics. A comparative presentations of both the American and European central banks will be given with a discussion of monetary policies in the respective continents. Fiscal policies in the U.S. and France during the Great Recession/2007-2009 recession will be discussed. This course is also an introduction to the study of human behavior and the human condition in the context of macroeconomics forces. By the end of the course, the student will have been introduced to the important issues of macroeconomics and to some of the contending theories.

ECON 4999: European Macroeconomics - 3 credit hours taught in English
May be used to fulfill COB major's international course requirement. Fulfills upper-level requirements for economics majors and minors. COURSE DESCRIPTION: A study of the European commercial and monetary system and European central banking with special attention to analysis and evaluation of European integration and monetary policies in modern times. A study of the European fiscal response to the global financial crisis that began in 2008.
Course Objectives & Outcomes: This course is designed to give you the tools for understanding Europe's most recent economic, social, and political history from a fragmented continent to an integrated continent. An analysis of the European commercial and monetary system will be presented with an emphasis on European central banking and evaluation of European integration and monetary policies. The recent European financial crisis and the aftermath of the Brexit will also be discussed and analyzed.
Course Prerequisites: ECON 1010 (Macroeconomics) and ECON 1020 (Microeconomics)

FASHION & LUXURY GOODS MARKETING (all program participants take this course)

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Art, fashion, and the history of the luxury goods industry in the 20th century, with special emphasis on marketing. Study of the fashion & luxury goods market with particular emphasis on iconic French brands such as Chanel, Dior, and Yves Saint Laurent. Study of specific sectors, including grand couturier, jewelry, and perfume. Key concepts, history, marketing strategies, case studies, customer profile; brand management, product portfolio and pricing, marketing, communications, and advertising techniques.
