How to Join

To be eligible to join a fraternity or sorority affiliated with the University, students must be enrolled full time (at least 12 hours), in good standing with the University, and must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. High school GPAs will be used to determine the eligibility of first semester freshmen.

Recruitment Update as of July 14, 2020:

Updated information about the format for the 2020 Panhellenic Recruitment Process has been added below. We are still working to finalize details for the other councils and will release that information as soon as we can. These processes for all councils will look different due to COVID-19.

 

Panhellenic Council

Due to the current circumstances surrounding the Coronavirus in Hamilton County and the State of Tennessee, UTC Panhellenic Council has decided to move recruitment to a fully structured virtual format. All rounds will be held ONLINE using Canvas and Zoom. Participants will not be required to move into the residence halls early this year since recruitment week will start after all students have moved on campus. 

Recruitment formally begins on Sunday, August 16.  An outline of the recruitment schedule has been provided below.

Round 1: Open House (online via Canvas)

  • The course will open on Sunday, August 16 at 8am and close on Tuesday, August 18 at 5pm.

Round 2: Combination of Sisterhood & Philanthropy (online via Zoom)

  • Thursday, August 20 and Friday, August 21 (times will vary depending on the participant's schedule)

Round 3: Preference (online via Zoom)

  • Saturday, August 22 (times will vary depending on the participant's schedule)

Round 4: Bid Day (online via Zoom)**

  • Sunday, August 23 (time TBD)
**Please note that individual sororities may have their own respective events following Panhellenic's "Bid Day" Ceremonies. 

If you would like to register for the 2020 Panhellenic Recruitment, please click the button below. There is a fee required for registration - $50. This registration fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and must be paid online via credit card. 

Once registration closes, staff from the Office of Student and Family Engagement will review your materials to confirm your eligibility for recruitment. To be eligible to join a fraternity or sorority at UTC, you must be enrolled full time (12 hours or more), in good academic and conduct standing with the University, and have at least a 2.5 GPA. High school GPAs are used to determine the eligibility of first-semester freshmen. If you meet these requirements, you will receive an email confirming your eligibility in August along with additional details about the first round of recruitment. 

Registration will close on Monday, August 10 at 5:00pm EST.
