Recycling
To reduce our landfill waste, the University at Tennessee Chattanooga provides students, staff and faculty with the opportunity to recycle a wide range of items. Collection bins are located in common areas of every building, and picked up on a routine basis. Paper collection bins are available at every copy machine or work area.
Additional bins and/or pick-ups can be provided on temporary basis for special events, moves, purging files or end-of-the year cleaning.
If you would like to request a recycling bin for regular pick-up, fill out this form!

UTC Mocs recycled 752,219 pounds (376.1 tons) of paper, metal, plastic, aluminum, and technotrash in 2019.
Since 2002, UTC Mocs have kept 4.8 million pounds of recyclable materials out of our landfills. Thank you for supporting the Student Green Fee to help keep our campus green!
What Can Be Recycled?
Glass is no longer accepted in curbside or single-stream containers, so make sure you bring your glass to one of the many recycling centers of Chattanooga!
Please ensure that you break down cardboard boxes!

Recycle Electronics
Techno Trash is a service provided to the university by GreenDisk that recycles and disposes of electronic waste. Instead of throwing out old phones, laptops, CDs, or any other electronic device, you can place them in the various techno trash recycling boxes around campus.
Why can't I just throw electronics in the garbage?
By recycling your techno trash properly, you help protect the environment from the hazardous materials that may leak out of your old devices and into a landfill. Green Disk destroys any information that may still be on your devices, recycles the parts of the device that can be repurposed, refurbishes items that can be salvaged, and properly discards any hazardous or rejected material.
Instead of letting your old technology accumulate within your office, dorm or home, bring it to the many specially marked techno trash bin locations on campus to recycle! A complete list of what can be recycled can be found on the GreenDisk website here.
