The Office of Equity and Diversity at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is proud to introduce the UTC Diversity Advocacy Certificate (DAC) Program. This professional development training program is available to all faculty and staff, and provides an opportunity for participants to explore strategic areas and concepts along the diversity continuum and improve their ability to contribute to the enhancement of UTC’s welcoming, engaging and inclusive environment.

The DAC program will help participants develop tools and skills necessary for advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in their professional and personal experiences by offering the following:

  • A theoretical framework for understanding issues of equity, diversity, pluralism and inclusion;
  • A legal and compliance foundation for diversity work
  • Practical tools for interaction and communication across differences
  • Leadership skills within the context of equity and diversity

 

To successfully complete the certificate program, participants must attend a minimum of six (6) trainings or workshops in addition to an engagement requirement. The program is comprised of the following four components:

  • Core Curriculum
  • Topical Electives
  • Leadership and Supervision
  • Campus Engagement
