Dr. Thomas C. Ware, Professor of English, joined the faculty of the University of Chattanooga in 1967. Throughout his 40 years at UC/UTC, Ware has taught both graduate and undergraduate students, and has served as head of the Department of English. Among his many accomplishments, he has been listed in current editions of both “Who’s Who in American Education” and “The Directory of American Scholars.” Ware earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Louisville, while graduating with honors. He later received both his Master’s of Arts and his Ph.D. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ware completed post-graduate work through the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Seminars at Columbia University, Northwestern University, and Johns Hopkins University. Prior to his appointment at UC, Ware served as Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the University of Cincinnati, and as a teaching assistant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
