At the end of each session students are required to take the TOEFL ITP test. This is a paper-based test used to measure the progress students have made
during the semester. It may also be used for undergraduate and graduate level admissions
at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Once the required TOEFL score is attained, students are no longer eligible for study in the ESL Institute at UTChattanooga. Students may repeat level six if they submit a request providing a specific reason why they need to repeat the level (e.g. they have failed the course or its section; they have not yet made the TOEFL score required by the University for the academic program for which they are applying: 500 for undergraduate studies and 550 for graduate studies, they would like to work more on particular skills they need to master).
Students can also take the computer based TOEFL test. The UTC Testing Center is a Certified Test Administration Site (CTAS) and has been approved by ETS to provide the TOEFL iBT test. Extra fees apply.
