Why did you choose UTC CECS?
The research happening in the Civil Engineering Department seemed interesting and promising; that was one reason I chose UTC. Besides, the international community had a lot of good things to say about UTC so I took the leap.
What is your career ambition and how is the MS program helping you get there?
I hope to work in the field of intelligent transportation/civil engineering as that’s my research area. Working as a research assistant has helped me get there and I have been introduced to new courses.
What have you liked about the MS program?
I’ve really liked the courses and the field work as it gives you hands on experience in the discipline. Also, I find the research very interesting.
Did you take any online courses?
Yes. What I liked most about online courses was the easy access from home, as being an international student I didn’t have a car and commuting could be challenging at times. Also, being able to go back to the recorded lectures to understand something if you missed it was helpful.
What opportunities have you had during your degree to gain other skills?
I recently got an opportunity to travel to Spain for a summer research opportunity which is very exciting, and I am grateful to my school to let me have this opportunity.
Have you had support from CECS faculty/staff?
Yes, my teachers, advisors, everyone has been really supportive throughout the semester.
How has the program helped you?
The program has helped me gain experience in research, and I got to explore the untouched parts of research.
Everything has been great so far?
There’s a lot of opportunities and room for growth here. The faculty is great, very cooperative, kind, and they are willing to work with the students. That, besides academics, is what I like most.
