Why did you choose UTC CECS?
I had just got out of the US Navy and was ready to go back to school. I had a conversation with my wife about what should I do, and where should I go? She was the one who thought that engineering was a good idea, and I picked mechanical because I knew it most easily transferred to an aerospace type job.
What is your career ambition and how is the MS program helping you get there?
My goal is to work in the aerospace industry. My master’s program is helping me reach my goal by continuing my education in fluid flow, heat transfer, and computational studies.
What have you liked about the MS program?
My professors are always willing to help and to show me different techniques to reach the same result. You can tell that their main purpose it to make you a better engineer.
What opportunities have you had during your degree program to gain other skills?
I have had lots of research opportunities that have helped me in my current studies. The further I get in my research, the more I understand why I am being taught fluid and computational principles.
Have you had support from CECS faculty/staff?
Dr. Sreenivas- Has always been willing to help me learn new material and to teach me new concepts. He is never too busy and is always patient. Dr. Margraves- Always reminds me that there is always another class that will increase my understanding on a subject. Kind of like saying you can always become better at any level in your education or career.
How has the program helped you?
This program has helped me by continuing to grow my understanding in the computational and fluid sciences as well as teaching me how to conduct research and work in these fields.
What has been the best part of your experience?
Learning from my professors, working with my coworkers, and growing my understanding of fluid mechanics. If you truly want to understand fluid mechanics and get the tools to make you successful in the professional world UTC will provide that for anyone who is willing to work hard.
