Trail of Tears presents scholarships
at UTC football game

This year’s 11th annual Trail of Tears Commemorative Motorcycle Ride started soggy but ended strong as proceeds from the sale of merchandise funded $25,000 in scholarships at UTC.

Bill Carson of Whitwell, Tennessee, who first launched the idea of the annual event, joined with members of the Alabama-Tennessee Trail of Tears Corridor Board of Directors to present a check during the halftime activities of the UTC vs. Liberty game. All motorcyclists were invited to come to the game and be a part of the halftime program.

Native American heritage and academic achievement are considered when awarding the scholarships.
