Women’s Multidisciplinary Conference

UTC and the Southeastern Women’s Studies Association (SEWSA) present the 11th Annual Women’s Multidisciplinary Conference to be held at UTC Thursday-Saturday, March 22-24.  Three nationally known feminist scholars will each deliver a plenary lecture.  The plenary lectures will be held in the Chattanooga Rooms of the UTC University Center. 

On Thursday, March 22 at 12:30 p.m, Dr. Joanne Belknap will present “Understanding and Responding to a Woman-Abuse Culture: A Gender, Race and Class Analysis.”

On Friday, March 23 at 12:30 p.m., Dr. MR Daniel will present “The Making of an ‘Unfriendly Black Hottie’: Portrayals of Black Girlhood in Mainstream Tweener/Teen Movies,” followed by Q & A. 

On Saturday, March 24 at 12:45 p.m., Dr. Eva Kittay will present “A Quest for a Humbler Philosophy: Encountering Impaired Minds—Finding the Things that Matter.”

 “...And Then God Created Woman,” by performance poet, Thandiwe Shiphrah will be presented Thursday, March 22 in the UTC Auditorium.
